Patna : Having taken a first lead of 292 runs after skittling Australia out for 151 in their first innings on day 3 of the third test at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, Australia, on December 28, 2018, India made a disastrous start to their second innings and were 54/5 in 27 overs at stumps with Hanuma Vihari (13), Cheteshwar Pujara ( 0), Captain Virat Kohli ( )), Ajinkya Rahane ( 1), and Rohit Sharma ( 5) returning to the dressing room. India led by 346 runs at stumps on day 3 with opener Mayank Agarwal batting on 28 and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant on 6.
Pat Cummins took 4/10 in 6 overs in a devastating spell of fast bowling. Josh Hazlewood took 1/13 in 8 overs.
Earlier, Australia were all out for 151 in their first innings with Jasprit Bumrah taking 6/33 in 15.5 overs, his career best figure. Ravindra Jadeja took 2/45. Ishant Sharm and Mohammad Shami took one wicket each.
