Patna : Needing 194 runs to beat England in the first cricket test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, India were 110/5 in 36 overs at stumps on day three with captain Virat Kohli unbeaten on 43 in 76 ball with three fours and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik batting on 18 in 44 ball with 2 fours. India require to score 84 runs more to win the match with 5 wickets in hand.

Openers Murli Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan were out for 6 and 13 runs respectively while Lokesh Rahul made 13. Fast bowler Stuart Broad took the wickets of both the openers. Highly rated Ajinkya Rahane fell to Sam Curran for just 2, getting out cheaply once again in the test. Rahane had made 15 in the first innings while Lokesh Rahul had made 4. Ravichandran Ashwin made 13. The fifth Indian wicket fell on 78 when Ashwin was out to James Anderson.

Earlier, England were all out for 180 runs in 53 overs in their second innings with allrounder Sam Curran scoring 63 with 9 fours and 2 sixes. England had made 287 in 89.4overs in their first innings. India scored 274 runs in 76 overs in their first innings.
