Patna: Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, on Saturday asked the girls staying in Nurses hostels to vacate the  hostels following tension on the campus. The director of the institute acted on the report submitted by a six- member inquiry committee which probed into the clashes between girls and MBBS students.
Trainee nurses who were returning from Maner were on November 26 allegedly teased by few MBBS students also returning by the same vehicle. The girls complained to director about the incident following which a six – member inquiry panel was constituted. When the committee meeting was on, the girls reiterated their charge against MBBS students of the institute.
The MBBS students, according to police, chased some nursing students on the campus, assaulted them with belts, shoes and slippers resulting in injuries to six girls. As the clash became violent, police from six police stations were called. SP (West) too reached there and restored normalcy.
As nurses have boycotted their duty, majority of the indoor patients left the hospital as they were not being attended to. The OPD services  were also hit.
