Muzaffarpur: The agriculture department has alerted the farmers of Muzaffarpur district about possibility of attack by army worms on Rabi crops. The department has also issued necessary directions to all the Block Agriculture Officers in this regard and asked them to take preventive measures. The army worms had damaged the paddy crops considerably in the district under seven blocks and farmers had staged dharna demanding compensation. The larvae of army worms have been seen under Bochaha, Gaighat, Sakra and Katra blocks of the district. The worms get very active during rabi season. District Agriculture (DAO), Muzaffarpur, Vikas Kumar, has advised farmers to go for rabi plantation only after treatment of seeds.
