Patna: A direct IAS of 2013 batch Dr Jitendra Gupta, currently posted as SDM, Mohania (Kaimur district), was arrested by a Vigilance investigation bureau team along with his driver and security guard on charge of accepting bribe from truck operators at Mohania check- post. The IAS officer was brought over to Patna by vigilance police led by additional SP Vinay Kumar Singh for further questioning. After completing his probation, Gupta was posted as SDM in December 2015.
According to vigilance sources, four truck operators had complained to Vigilance that the SDM was demanding Rs 1.45 lakh for release of trucks which were detained by him at the check- post on Varanasi border.Trucks carrying steel from Jamshedpur were going to Jaipur.
All trucks were parked on the SDM residence premises. One of the truck operators negotiated with the SDM and an agreement was reached for Rs 80,000. The operator paid Rs 80,000 at SDM house and soon the vigilance officials raided officer’s house and caught him red handed while accepting bribe. Police found documents of the trucks in the vehicle of the SDM. Search continued till 3 am on Wednesday. The SDM allegedly used to detain trucks on charges of overloading on the Grand Trunk Road and demand money for their release, operators alleged.
