HC rejects anticipatory bail petition of former minister Manju Verma

Patna : Patna High Court on October 9, 2018, rejected an anticipatory bail petition filed by former Bihar Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma who is facing arrest in an Arms Act case.

The court dismissed the application of former minister Manju Verma, against whom an FIR was lodged in August 2018 at Cheria Bariarpur police station of Begusarai district after seizure of about 50 live rounds from her residence during a raid conducted on her premises at Patna and Begusarai by the CBI in connection with the Muzaffarpur shelter home sex scandal.

Manuu Verma had to resign as the Social Welfare minister following reports alleging close links between her husband Chandrashekhar Verma and Brajesh Thakur, the main accused in the scandal. The JD(U) had moved Patna high court after her anticipatory bail plea was rejected by a Begusarai court on August 25, 2018.
