Ara : ‘Chakka Jam’ agitation by the CPI (ML and Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Mahasabha activists in support of farmers evoked a mixed response in Bhojpur district on October 9, 2018. Hundreds of activists took out procession from different parts of Bhojpur district and blocked the roads paralysing movement of vehicles since morning.
The bandh supporters also blocked roads near Shivganj, Moti Tola, Station road, Dhobighatawa, Isadhi Bazaar, Ara-Sahar, Ara-Sandesh, Ara-Buxar, Ara-Mohania, Ara-Sasaram main roads and paralysing movement of vehicles. Led by CPI(ML) MLA from Tarari Sudama Prasad, they blocked Ara-Patna main road near Patel Bus Stand raising slogans against the Central and the State governments.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudama Prasad, MLA, said that the government has remained apathetic to the problems facing the farmers and whenever they resort to agitation to press their demands, they are beaten up and implicated in cases. He said that the irrigation facilities in Bhojpur district were negligible and the standing crops of the farmers were withering for want of irrigation. He demanded of the government to waive the loans of the farmers and implement recommendations of Swaminathan Commission.
