New Delhi : The Ministry of Culture operates Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science (SPOCS) which provides for setting up of Science Cities and Science Centres in all the states of the country subject to availability of funds for the purpose. States willing to avail of this Scheme have to provide land and share the cost of setting up of facility and corpus for upkeep and maintenance.

The Science Cities set up in the country are :  Science City, Kolkata, West Bengal, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurtala, Punjab, Science City, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Regional Science City, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, according to a PIB release. Science Cities/Centres are being set up /proposed at 13 other places too in the country including Guwahati, Kottayam, Mysore, Palampur (HP), Bargarh ( Odisha), Udaipur ( Tripura), Gaya ( Bihar), Almora ( Uttrakhand), Udaipur ( Rajasthan), Jabalpur (MP), Kokrajhar ( Assam), Mayabunder ( A & N Islands), and Rajahmundry (AP).

This information was given by Minister of State (IC) for Culture and Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Dr. Mahesh Sharma in a written reply in Lok Sabha on February 6, 2018.
