Muzaffarpur : Muzaffarpur district administration on December 12 prohibited academic activities till December 15, 2016, in all the government and private primary schools imparting education to students from Standard I to VI in view of severe cold sweeping the district. The weather condition is likely to remain the same for next two days. Classes of students from Standard VII to Standard XII in different  schools will be held after 10 am. Trains passing through Muzaffarpur are running several hours late.

Railways has cancelled run of North East Express and Awadh Assam Express from December 17, 2016, to January 15, 2017, in view of the dense fog. Westerly wind is also likely to affect Potato and Dalhan production in the district. Meanwhile, noted physician Dr T K Jha asked the diabetic and heart patients to remain alert and avoid exposure to cold. Muzaffarpur Municipal Corporation (MMC), following directive of the DM, arranged for bonfire at 15 places in the town while Rotary City has distributed 300 blankets among the poor.
