Patna :  A Gopalganj police team led by SP Ravi Ranjan late on February 14 evening recovered an abducted Class IV student of DAV, Thawe, Shambhavi Kumari (9), a few hours after her abduction. Talking to this reporter on telephone, SP Ravi confirmed that the kidnapped girl had been recovered. He, however, refused to give any detail in this connection.

Shambhavi, grand-daughter of an iron dealer of Gopalganj Kanhaiya Burnwal, was abducted by some Scorpio-borne criminals when the girl was on way to her residence near Thana Chowk (Town police station) on February 14. Eyewitnesses said that the girl, after getting down from her school bus at Thana Chowk, was walking towards her home. They said that some Scorpio borne criminals abducted her and sped away from there.

When the girl failed to reach her home at 3.45 pm, her father Pradip Kumar contacted school authorities inquiring about his daughter. At around 5 pm, someone made a call to the girl’s residence and informed the family members about her abduction. The caller told the family members that the girl is in safe custody and asked them to arrange for a huge ransom. The caller also threatened the family members of dire consequences if they dared contact police.

As the news of girl’s kidnapping spread in the urban locality of Gopalganj, a large number of people including local MP Janak Ram and some traders reached Town police station and laid siege there demanding immediate recovery of the girl. Separate police teams led by Gopalganj SP Ravi Ranjan out carried out a massive search operation to recover the kidnapped girl.
