Gopalganj: The court of ADJ-8, Gopalganj, on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment two accused in a case of murder that took place at village Gaura under Kateya police station in 1993.  The court also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 each on the two convicts. The judgment came 23 year after the incident.

On June 4, 1993, one Dinesh alias Bhoj of village Gaura was going along with his cattle for grazing. One of the cattle entered the field of one Nandlal, who along with Vishwanath Gupta, assaulted him mercilessly after tying him. Bhoj
succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The deceased’s father Lalababu Prasad lodged an FIR against the two accused with Kateya police station in Gopalganj district. The defence lawyer was Devendra Mani Tripathi while APP Ashok Kumar Gupta represented the government.
