Patna : World No 13 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, 21, Indonesia, stunned reigning World Champion and World No 2 Kento Momota, 24, Japan, to win the men’s singles title at China Open on September 23, 2018, at Chanzhou, China. China Open is a Super 1,000 level tournament.
Ginting beat Momota in straight sets 23-21, 21-19 in the final of China Open in 63 minute. It is first major title for Ginting in 2018. Although Momota lost in straight sets to Ginting, he put up a great fight. Ginting had also won Indonesia Open singles title. Indonesia Open is Super 500 level tournament.
