Bagaha : Bagaha SDM Dharmendar Kumar has sounded alert under the sub-division following sudden rise in Gandak water level with discharge of  2.54 lakh  cusec at 4pm. The SDM, according. Gandak barrage officials, said the discharge might reach 5.5 lakh cusec by 10 pm in view of fast rising trend of Gandak water after which Pipara-Piparasi and Champaran embankments would be under great pressure
The officials of West Champaran district administration and flood control authorities had reason to relax earlier when the water level began to fall. But the district administration again had to sound red alert in the flood hit blocks apprehending rise of water level of river Gandak. The blocks officials have been asked to be ready to help the flood affected people. Block officials of Piparasi, Madhubani, Bhitaha, Thakaraha, Bagaha-1, Bagaha-2, Jogapatti, Bairia and Nautan blocks have asked the residents of low lying area to move to safer places following rise of water level of the river again.
