Giridih: Four passengers of an auto were killed and at least eight others were seriously injured after it had a head on collision with a heavily loaded truck coming from opposite direction on Ranchi – Deoghar main road at village Dhibra under Bagodar police station in Giridih district in Jharkhand on Sunday morning. While two passengers died on the spot, two other succumbed to their injuries during treatment around 5 pm. The site of incident is about 65 km from the Giridih district headquarters.

According to the police, the accident took place around 11:45 amon when about 12 passengers were on their way to Bagodar from Sariya market in an auto. While two of the deceased, who died on the spot, were identified as Bhuneshwari Devi (50) and her four year old grand daughter Sonakshi Kumari, others are yet to be identified by the police. The victims are the residents of Sariya.

The angry villagers gathered at the site of incident and blocked the main road for few hours. They were demanding compensation to the deceased’s family.

“Immediately after getting information, a police team visited the place of occurrence and looked into the matter. While four of the injured were admitted to Bagodar Community Health Centre (CHC), remaining four were referred to Hazaribagh,” said the Bagodar Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), who along with other police personnel visited the spot. A case has been lodged with the Bagoar PS in this connection and the dead bodies were brought over to Giridih Sadar hospital for post-mortem.
