Gopalganj: People of over half a dozen villages including Rampur Daud would not have to cross a thatched bridge (chachari pul) over river Daha as local MLA Amrendra Kumar alias Pappu Pandey on January 8 laid the foundation stone of a bridge over the river at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore. The construction works would start soon.

Addressing the gathering, local MLA Pappu Pandey said that the construction works of the bridge would start in 2017 and it would be completed by 2018. He said that people of the locality were demanding a bridge over the  river for the past several years. The voters of the area had made it an issue during the last Assembly elections, he said.

Once completed, the bridge would provide relief to the residents of several villages under Kuchaikot block including Rampur Daud, Baniyachapar, Bikrampur, Sasamusa, Pakarbhira, Mahua Tola, Noniya Tola, Sherpur, Bishunpur and Tiwary Matihaniya. The bridge would have 5 km approach road from both sides and it would be completed with the bridge.
