Five killed, two injured in separate incidents in Giridih

Giridih: Five persons including three women died and two others were injured in separate incidents under different police station areas in Giridih district.

One Gulam Murmu, 35, committed suicide by hanging himself with the help of a rope from the ceiling of his house at village Udnabad under muffasil police station in Giridih district late on Friday evening.  It was  noticed only when Murmu’s wife saw the hanging body of her husband and informed others about it. Murmu was a panchayat representative, a ward committee member, of Udnabad panchayat.

“Acute financial crisis that had caused regular family dispute over the past few months is learnt to be the main reason behind the incident,” said Muffassil PS incharge, Sriniwas Kumar.

In an another incident, a 21 year old recently married woman, Niki Devi, committed suicide by consuming poison at her in-laws’ home at  village Hiranpur under Giridih Muffasil PS.  In a similar incident, a 70 – year old woman ended her life by consuming pesticide on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Bikni Devi of Bagulatand village under Birni PS in  Giridih.

Pano Devi (50), a resident of village Barasingha under the same PS areas, was crushed to death by an unidentified truck near Bisnapur on Saturday morning. Two others were injured in the accident.

Giridih police also recovered body of 60 year old man from a village well at Hiranpur village under the Muffasil PS areas on Saturday afternoon.

“The dead bodies have been brought to Sadar hospital for autopsy and the district police are looking into the matter,” said SDPO, R K Mehta.
