Sasaram : Rohtas police on October 3o, 2017, night conducted raids at different places in connection with kidnapping of Kaushal Kumar, son of Rita Devi, Mukhia, Tilokhar Panchayat under Chutia police station in Rohtas district on October 24, 2017, evening, and arrested five kidnappers. Police also seized three countrymade pistols, eight live cartridges, three mobiles and Rs 50,000 cash which was taken as ransom from Kaushal’s family for his release from their possession.

The arrested kidnappers were identified as Prem Chand Chaudhary and Arun Chaudhary of Tilokhar, Ram Ji Kharwar of Salma, and Anil Singh and Manik Kharwar of Sukamat. Three kidnappers were arrested near a canal at Tilokhar while two kidnappers were arrested from Baghmanawa.

SDPO, Dehri On Sone, Anwar Zaved Ansari, said that the kidnappers made captive Krishna Singh and Shankar Ram on October 24, 2017, night when they were sleeping at a pump house at village Tilokhar and went to the house of Mukhia, Rita Devi, and also kidnapped her son Kaushal Kumar and took them towards the hill where they released Krishna Singh, nephew of the mukhia, and Shankar Ram. The kidnappers asked them to call on a particular number next day.

The kidnappers had demanded Rs 5 lakh as ransom but finally agreed to accept only Rs 50,000 following  request from Kaushal’s family members. The family members gave the desired amount at the fixed place on October 30 night and the kidnappers released Kaushal Kumar. But, Kaushal’s family members had informed police before giving the ransom amount to the kidnappers and police swung into action and arrested the kidnappers. The SDPO  said that the kidnappers were involved in several cases of extortion demand, kidnapping and even naxal activities.
