Ara: A named FIR has been lodged with Sahar police station in Bhojpur district against Primary agriculture credit society ( PACS) president, Andhari Panchayat, Brij Mohan Giri in connection with alleged misappropriation of 288 metric ton of rice worth about Rs 60 lakh on the statement of Block Co-operative Officer (BCO), Sudhir Kumar Pandey, on Thursday evening. Brij Mohan Giri is a resident of Fatehpur Mathia under Sahar police station.

BCO Pandey said that Giri had procured 4,900 quintal of paddy from the farmers in 2015-2016  and had to give State Food Corporation (SFC) 328 metric ton of rice but he gave only 40 metric ton of rice and allegedly misappropriated  288 metric ton of rice. Sfter receiving complain about it, he ordered an inquiry into the matter that revealed that the procured paddy was given to rice mill clearly indicating that rice worth about Rs 60 lakh did not reach the SFC. He ordered the PACS president to deposit the amount by July 31, 2016, but he did not pay any heed even after deadline hence he lodged a named FIR with Sahar police station against him.

Pandey said that the PACS president had to procure paddy from the farmers and return 67 % of rice to the SFC after milling by at the rice mills earmarked for the purpose. He said the inquiry report revealed that Giri did not send the paddy to rice mill. SHO Sahar police station B K Brajesh said that police were probing into the matter.
