Aurangabad: One Narayan Singh, suspected to be member of CPI ( Maoist), was arrsted on Thursday from village Bakhtiyarpur under Uphara Police Station in Aurangabad district and police recovered firearms along with  Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted raid at Bakhtiyarpur and arrested one Narayan Singh for illegally selling firearms to naxalites and criminals. Police recovered a countrymade pistol, two cartridges, a bottle Indian made foreign liquor and cellphone from his possession.

Aurangabad SP Babu Ram said that Narayan has links with naxalites as his involvement in attack on police personnel has come to light. He was also involved in Brigurari incident in which five police constables were killed in 1997, the SP said adding he was jailed in many cases in the past.

SP Babu Ram said initial investigation has revealed that Narayan used to sell firearms to only selected criminals so that he was not nabbed. Efforts are on to identify those who have purchased firearms from Narayan, the SP said adding police will take stern action against those who purchased firearms from Narayan.
