Bagaha: An FIR has been lodged against eight employees of Gandak barrage division, Valmikinagar in West Champaran district, for dereliction of duty and criminal negligence which resulted in collapse of gate of barrage.
SDM Bagaha Dharmendra Kumar on Saturday said that Circle Officer, Bagaha-2 circle, Shriram Oraon has lodged an FIR with Valminagar police station against eight barrage employees ,who were on night duty on July 21-22 at Gandak barrage control room for operating the barrage gates. But when the Gandak water level started rising, they did not lift the gates leading to sudden heavy discharge of Gandak water damaging shutter of gate number 33 after which water entered Tirbeni hydro power house and Bhisaha Village in the night while the villagers were sleeping, the FIR said. The ose figuring in the FIR are: Assistant Engineer Subodh K Sharma, Ranjan Kumar and Abhimannu Sharma, both Junior engineers (JEs), Omprakash Mahto, Shatrughan Ram, Manish Kumar, Manish Kumar Tiwari and one more person.
