Patna : World Number 2 and five time champion, Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, entered the final of Australian Open (AO) 2018 after his rival World Number 58 Hyeon Chung, 21, South Korea, retired mid-way through the one-sided their semi-final clash on January 26, 2018.
Defending Champion Federer was leading 6-1, 5-2 when Chung retired due to injury. Chung had received treatment on his left foot two games before he retired from the match surprising the crowd. Federer appreciated Chung’s giat killing run at the tournament.
It will Federer’s 7th apprearance at the AO final. He will face Number 6 seed Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, in the final on January 28, 2018. Federer has won 19 Grand Slam titles including 8 Wimbledon titles. He had last won the AO in 2017.
