Farmer shot dead at Rohtas village

Sasaram: Some unidentified persons shot dead a farmer Venktesh Yadav, 45, late Tuesday evening at village Varuna under Bikramganj police station in Rohtas district when he had gone to irrigate his field. The villagers saw the body in the field in the early morning on Wednesday and informed the police. When police reached the spot, the villagers did not allow them to take the body in their custody and blocked the Ara-Sasaram main road raising slogans against the district administration. They demanded compensation to the family of the deceased and immediate arrest of the accused. After positive response from police, the blockade was lifted after two hours and police brought the body to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Though an FIR has been lodged with police in this connection, no arrest has so far been made in this regard.
