Sasaram : Some unidentified armed persons shot dead a farmer Vijay Singh when he was sleeping at the house ofhis brother-in-law at village Duari under Karakat police station in Rohtas district on Jun3 17, 2017, night. Police force has also been deployed at the village after the murder in view of mounting tension.

ASP Neeraj Kumar Singh said that Vijay Singh, a resident of village Bhaluahi under Natwar police station in Rohtas district, lived with his brother-in-law (bahanoi) Ashok Singh at village Duari  under Karakat police station for the last 40 years and looked after agriculture work there. The ASP said that two groups  had clashed at Duari on May 22, 2017, over driving of motorcycles at high speed and also exchanged fire in which three persons were injured. He added that the murder of Vijay Singh might be a fallout of that incident.

Strangled to Death : In another incident, a youth Krishna Bhuiya of Sanjhauli was strangulated to death near Shiv Sarovar under Sanjhauli police station in Rohtas district on June 17 evening. Police brought the body to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Love affairs is said to be the cause behind the incident. An FIR has been lodged with Sanjhauli police station against two persons but no arrest has so far been made in this connection. Police said that Krishna Bhuiya allegedly had   escaped with the wife of Dharmendra Musahar of the village some days ago. He had returned to the village a week back
