Ara : Family members and acquaintances went on rampage at Sadar Hospital, Ara, around October 26, 2018, midnight, after the death of a minor child during treatment. They scuffled with the doctor and also damaged properties at the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit on the campus of the Sadar Hospital. They claimed that had the doctor treated the child on time, he would have survived.
Janardan Singh of Chhotaki Singhai village under Ara Town police station reached the hospital with his three year old son Rudra Kumar around October 26 midnight after the child showed symptoms of cold and cough but the doctor on duty Dr Ajay Kumar Pandey allegedly refused even to examine the child without token issued at the hospital counter.
Janardan tried his best to get the token but in vain. He requested the doctor to examine the child and prescribe some medicine so that the child could get some relief as no one was there to issue the token but the doctor remained unmoved and in the meantime, the child died for want of treatment and medicine. After his death, the family members and acquaintances went on rampage and damaged the properties of the hospital and also scuffled with the doctor.
Dr Ajay Kumar Singh said that he had examined the patient but and advised that the condition of the child was serious but the family members did not appreciate the seriousness of the case. He said that they also damaged the properties and scuffled with him.
Superintendent, Ara Sadar Hospital, Dr Satish Kumar Sinha, said that he would took into the matter and action would be taken if anyone is found guilty of negligence of the duty.
