Patna : World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings and top seed Kento Momota, 24, Japan, beat World No 6 Kidambi Srikanth, 25, India, in straight games on late October 26, 2018, to enter the semi-finals of French Open badminton tournament, a BWF Super 750 event, at Paris, France.

Reigning World Champion Momota will play World No 5 Chen Long, 29, China, in the semi-finals on October 27, 2018, night. Chen Long is reigning Olympic Champion.

Momota beat Srikanth 21-16, 21-19 in 52 minutes in the quarter-finals of French Open. Momota won 42 rallies to 35 by Srikanth. Srikanth though won 9 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Momota. Momota now leads Srikanth 10-3 head to head.
