Ara : All the untrained teachers whether they are teaching at private or government schools have to undergo training by March 2019 failing which they can’t continue as teachers. Bihar Education Project Council (BEPC) has made training of all the untrained teachers in private and government schools mandatory under the Right to Education (RTE) by March 2019.

District Education Officer (DEO), Bhojpur, Avanindra Kumar Sinha said that all the untrained teachers have to complete Digital Learning Depatment (DLD) course run by the NIOS in distance course mode online. A teacher can register himself/herself on the HMRD SWAAM (Study Webs of Active learning for Aspiring Mind) portal for the course. He said the course not done through NIOS or HMRD SWAAM would not be recognised. The DEO said that all the untrained teachers had to complete their training between October 3, 2017 and March 31, 2019, and their registration for the course has started from August 2017. He added that information along with the copies of the direction of the BEPC is being sent to all the schools.

Union HRD Minister has launched a web portal SWAAM to impart online education free of cost. The teachers have to register thsemselves with this portal for DLD training and the Headmasters or Principals of schools have to upload names, Aahdar numbers, mobile phone numbers of the teachers along with U-dice nos of the schools and other information from August 16, 2017 to September 16, 2017. The NIOS will upload information regarding DLD course on the SWAAM portal and the teachers concerned can avail the facilities from October 3, 2017.
