Ara : Resentment prevails among the family members and relatives of slain Krishna Ranjan Pandey alias Kakku Pandey, former General Secretary Janata Dal (U), Bhojpur unit, and contractor, Ara Municipal Corportion (AMC), due to failure of police to arrest even a single assailant.
Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar had claimed that police had identified the accused Prashant Singh alias Bholu and two others unnamed accused Arjun and Lamboo through CCTV and arrest warrant had been issued against them. The SP said police were verifying the name and address of the fourth accused Golu. After the murder of Krishna Ranjan Pandey, an FIR was lodged against Prashant Singh and four unnamed persons with Nawada police station, Ara, on the statement of deceased’s wife Rashmi Pandey. Krishna Ranjan Pandey was son of late Jagdish Narayan Pandey of Suryapuri colony in Shivganj locality under Town police station, Ara.
SHO, Nawada police station, Neyaz Ahamad said that some armed persons had shot dead Krishna Ranjan Pandey in a room of a government building near the Sun Temple adjacent to the SP office under Nawada police station around 10 pm on August 17, 2017, over a dipute Rs 16 lakh of the contract with another contractor Prashant Singh. Police went to the spot on August 18 morning and locked the room in which Kakku Pandey was killed.
Sources said that Krishna Ranjan Pandey was talking to his friend and Bhojpur district BJP spokesperson Dharmendra Singh at his residence on Mahadeva Road under Town police station on August 17 around 7 pm when he got a call on his mobile. He immediately left and reached a government building near Sun Temple near the SP office where at least 7 persons were boozing in a room. Later, the miscreants shot at him in the room of the government building. Two amongst the seven persons dropped injured Krishna Ranjan Pandey to Ara Sadar Hospital on a bullet motorcycle.
Rashmi Pandey, deceased’s wife, said that her husband was a resident of village Galchaur under Krishnagarh police station under Barhara block in Bhojpur district and lived with his family in Suryapuri colony in Shivganj locality under Town police station. He worked as contractor of AMC in partnership of Prashant Singh alias Bhola of Maharaja Hata near eastern gate of H D Jain College, Ara. She alleged that Bholu Singh had all the documents, pen drive, password and about Rs 16 lakh of the contract and whenever her husband asked for them, he always refused. She said that her husband was putting pressure on Bhola Singh to give him the documents related to contracts for the last two months but he was killed.
