Patna : South Africa (SA) were 72/4 in 20 overs in their second innings in the 1st Test against England at stumps on Day 2 at SuperSport Park, Centurion, South Africa, on December 27, 2019, with Rassie van der Dussen batting on 17 including 2 fours and fast bowler Anrich Nortji unbeaten on 4. South Africa, who had scored 284 in their first innings, lead by 175 runs. Fifteen wickets fell on Day 2. The test is heading for an early finish.

Jonny Bairstow fell to fast bowler Nortji for 1 and it was 143/5. Soon Ben Stokes too fell to Nortji and it was 150/6. Sam Curran fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for 20 in 24 balls with 4 fours and it was 176/7. Jos Buttler (wk) fell to Philander for 12 in 39 balls with 2 fours making it 176/8. Fast bowler Jofra Archer also fell to Philandr for 3 and it was 181/9. Stuart Broad fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for a duck. England conceded a 103 run first innings lead.
For SA, Vernon Philander took 4/16 in 14.2 overs while Kagiso Rabada took 3/68 in 15 overs. Anrich Nortji took 2/47 in 12 overs while medium fast bowler Dsaine Pretorius took 1/23 in 8 overs.
South Africa openers : Aiden Markram and Deal Elgar, scored 2 and 22 runs respectively in the second innings making it 25/2. Zubayr Hamza, who had scored 39 in the first innings, fell to Stuard Broad for 4 in second innings making it 29/3. Captain Faf du Plessis, who had 29 in first innings, fell to Jofra Archer for 20 in 2nd innings and it was 62/4. Jofra Archer has taken 2/37 in 6 overs while James Anderson and Stuard Broad have taken one wicket each. Anderson took the wicket of Markram. Elgar fell to Archer.
