Patna : England beat Australia by 28 runs in the only T20 match ( Day/Night) at Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK, on June 27, 2018, riding on 30 ball 61 with 6 fours and 5 sixes by wicketkeeper and opener Jos Buttler, and 26 ball 44 with 6 fours by his opening partner Jason Roy. Australia won the toss but opted to bowl. England made 221/5 in 20 overs. Australia were all out for 193 in 19.4 overs.

Buttler and Roy were involved in a 95 run partnership for the first wicket in 8.5 overs. Alex Hales made 49 in 24 ball hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes while Joe Root was run out for 35 in 24 ball hitting 4 fours. England captain Eoin Morgan made 15 in 8 ball hitting a four and a six while Jonny Bairstow remained  on 14 in 8 ball hitting 2 sixes.

For Australia, Mitchell Swepson took 2/27 while Marcus Stoinis and Billy Stanlake took one wicket each.

Replying to the England total, Australia lost their first wicket at 17 when D Arcy Short was out for 16 and second wicket on 33 when Glen Maxwell got out after scoring 10. Australia lost their third wicket at 64 when Travis Head was out after scoring 15. The fourth Australian wicket fell at 72 when wicketkeeper Alex Carey was out for 3. But, captain Aaron Finch made a 41 ball 84 with 7 fours and 6 sixes bringing Australia back into the contest. Spinner Ashton Agar made 29 hitting 3 fours and a six while pacer Andrew Tye made 20 in 11 ball hitting 2 sixes.

For England, Chris Jordan took 3/42 while spinner Adil Rashid took 3/27. Pacer Liam Plunkett took 2/34. David Willey and Moeen Ali took one wicket each.
