Elderly person shot dead at Bhojpur village

Ara :  Surendra  Singh, 60, was shot  dead by some neighbours late December 12 evening at village Majhaua village under Town police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district after a dispute. Police brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. An FIR has been lodged with Town police station but no arrest has so far been made in this regard. The deceased is father of Rahul Singh, an armyman posted at Jammu.

The SHO, Town Police Station, said that Surendra Singh, 60, had some tiff with his neighbour Mantu Singh over a drain at Majhaua village on December 12 morning but the villagers intervened and the issue was settled up for the moment. In the late evening, members of both the families clashed again. Meanwhile, family members of Mantu Singh attacked Surendra Singh with some traditional weapons and shot at him in his stomach. Kin of Surendra Singh rushed him to Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctor declared him brought dead. Tension prevails in the area following the incident. Police conducted raids at several places at the village and also in the vicinity  but failed to arrest any accused.
