Ara : Under the banner of East Central Railway Karmchari Union (ECRKU) led by their secretary, Neeraj Kumar, at least 50 employees of East Central Railway took out a procession from Ara railway station on February 6 that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at Ara railway station where they staged a day long dharana and also raised slogans against the officials of Railway Board.

The employees resorted to agitation in protest against an order of the Railway Board. Neeraj Kumar, Secretary, ECRKU said that the Rail Board sent a letter debarring the employees having Rs 4,200 pay grade and above from being the member of the ECRKU. He said if the Railway Board does not withdraw its order, the employee would be forced to launch phasewise agitation and may resort to rail chakka jam agitation.
