Buxar : Angry villagers blocked Buxa -Ara main road near Thoda bridge for about four hours paralysing the movement of traffic after a married woman was seriously injured when a truck dashed a motorcycle from behind on February 6.

They burnt tyres on the road and raised slogans against Buxar district administration. They were  demanding compensation to the woman and arrest of the driver. The police pacified the agitating people by telling them the truck driver would be arrested soon. Police also seized the truck.

Kanchan Devi, 38, was returning home with her brother-in-law Sanjay Upadhayay on a motorcycle from a hospital where their relative had delivered a baby. As they reached the Thoda bridge near Central Jail, a speeding truck dashed the motorcycle from behind injuring the woman. After the accident, the truck driver escaped from the scene leaving the vehicle behind. The injured were rushed to Buxar Sadar Hospital but the doctors referred Kanchan Devi  to Varanasi.
