Patna :  General Manager (GM), East Central Railway (ECR), Rajiv Mishra has directed Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Danapur, R K Jha to improve safety measures at all manned crossing  under the division and close all unmanned crossing gates. The GM inspected Danapur division of the zone on Sunday. AGM T P Singh and other senior railway officials were present during inspection. The division should construct road over bridges ( ROBs) at all  unmanned railway crossing gates, GM Mishra said.

Mishra said cleanliness of the platforms  would now be the sole responsibility of station masters (SMs) at all stations under the zone and they must ensure round the clock cleanliness  on railway station premises  failing which SMs would face the music. He said railways intends  to increase  number of coaches in all those trains, which are  not running  with the load combination of 24 coaches.

The GM said railways is committed to provide foolproof  safety to passengers especially women either on running trains or railway platforms hence install more CCTVs  at stations so that  railway security personnel could keep a vigil on the activities of passengers during peak hours. Mishra asked Danapur DRM Jha to  carry on ticket checking drive on each section of the division and in the reserved coaches of passenger trains so that ticket sale from booking counters  from various stations increases.

Mishra said that escalators and lifts  would be  installed  at more stations  in future. Though Patna Junction has the facility of escalators, railways is installing lifts at Patna Junction too. Safe drinking water is to be provided  at all stations of the division. Punctuality of passenger trains must be maintained  at any  cost, the GM said.
