Patna : Sprinter Dutee Chand, 22, India, who had won Silver Medal in 100m race at the on going 18th Asian Games clocking 11.32 seconds, on August 29, 2018, clinched Silver Medal in 200m race final at Jakarta, Indonesia, clocking 23.20 seconds. She finished second behind Bahrain’s Odiong Edidiong, who won Gold Medal in the event clocking 22.96s.

Dutee Chand hails from Jajpur, Odisha, and belongs to a below poverty line weavers’ family. Her sister Saraswati Chand was also an athlete. India has won a medal in women’s 200m event after 16 years. Saraswati Saha had won Gold Medal in the event in 2002.
