New Delhi: Delhi University’s undergraduate admissions under sports category and trials for the extra-curricular activities (ECA) quota kicked-off on Friday.The Indian classical dance trials scheduled for July 7 will now be held on July 10 on account of Ramzan. Sports trials are over and the university will release the list of selected candidates on Thursday. Selected candidates will have to get their documents verified at the preferred colleges on Friday or Saturday.
“Once the merit list is out, there will be counselling in colleges of their choice. The selected candidates will have to go to the respective college of their preference and their attendance will be marked. Then on July 9, the colleges will come up with their own final admission list and admissions will begin,” Delhi University sports council chairman CS Dubey told The Speedpost. The process will continue till the seats are filled up under the category.
Students have to carry their registration slip as well. Those who qualify can participate in the final trials. Different colleges have been assigned for various activities. The certificates that students uploaded along with the centralised form carry 15% marks, the trials hold 75% weightage and board marks hold 10% weightage.Candidates have to score at least 50% in the final trials (38 out of 75) to be eligible for admission.
An ECA admission committee comprising at least two experts from institutes such as National School of Drama, Shri Ram Center for Performing Arts and Indian Council for Cultural Relations will evaluate the candidates.The final list of selected candidates will be displayed on July 19.
On July 20 and 21, selected students have to go to their preferred college and get their documents verified. On July 22, the colleges will release the final list of selected candidates and students can get their admission.
“We have given our requirement to the university and even students have selected the activity and college of their choice. In special cases, if there are more number of students than seats, the colleges will have to draw lots,” says Hansraj College principal Rama Sharma. Colleges can reserve 5% seats under both ECA and sports categories. Under the sports quota, 14 students who are international players have been admitted.
