Patna : Notorious undertrial criminal Guddu Singh was shot dead while two other undertrials were seriously injured in a shootout on Barh court premises in Patna district at 2 pm on September 8, 2017. While Guddu Singh died on the spot, the other two were referred to Patna for treatment.

The three undertrial prisoners were brought over to the court for production from Barh jail escorted by armed police personnel. The four assailants managed to escape after the shootout. Barh is nearly 70 km away from Patna. Guddu Singh belongs to neighbouring Maranchi area. The criminals fired on the three  undertrials when they were coming out of the court after thir apperance before it and were being taken to the court lock up.

Confirming the firing incident, Barh DSP Manoj said that it appears to be the fallout of a gang war. He said that Guddu Singh’s rivals were involved in the firing.  The DSP said that Guddu Singh was involved in 17 criminals cases. He said that the accused had been identified though they were yet to be arrested. Incidentally, no CCTV camera has been installed on the Barh court premises. Barh is a Sub-divisional town.
