Ranchi ( Jharkhand) : The CBI on September 8, 2017, arrested five Income- Tax Officers (ITOs) of Jharkhand posted at Ranchi and Hazaribagh in Jharkhand due to their alleged involvement in corrupt practices. They were arrested by a 6- member CBI team headed by an SP who reached Ranchi from New Delhi after finding they were hand in gloves with Principal IT Commissioner Tapas Datta of Ranchi, who is at present lodged in Ranchi jail after being arrested on July 12, 2017, at Ranchi.
The arrested ITOs are: R.K.Lal and Santosh Shah, posted at Ranchi, and Tarun Roy, Binod Paul and Sunil Gupta, posted at Hazaribagh. All the 5 ITOs were called for interrogation at Ranchi CBI office where after interrogation they were arrested and later produced before the CBI court from where they were forwarded to judicial custody for 14 days. Ranchi SSP Kuldip Dwivedi confirmed the arrest of the fiv ITOs.
