Chas  (Jharkhand) : The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at DPS Chas in Bokaro District, Jharkhand. The event began with the unfurling of the Tricolour by Officiating Principal, DPS Chas, P Shailaja Jayakumar. The students, teachers, parents, and staff of the school, in tune with the school band, sang the National Anthem.

The spirit of Republic Day was glorified by the melodious rendition of patriotic songs ‘Jaage Jaage Amar Bhavna, ‘Jai Jan Bharat’, ‘Sare Janha Se Achha’. The other highlight of the function day was the dance on “Ekla Cholo Re”, Vande Matram” and “Where the mind is without fear” showcasing the theme of the changing circumstances of life prior and post-Covid.

In her message from Delhi, Dr Hemlata S Mohan, Chief Mentor, DPS Chas, highlighted the importance of Indian Constitution, its unique features and the facts that all the students and the younger generation need to know to uphold the respect for  our Constitution and channelising their tender minds towards what is right and ethical by reaffirming the fundamental rights and duties that empowers us all.

Speaking on the occasion, Officiating Principal P Shailaja Jayakumar conveyed her greetings to the students, teachers, parents, on this  occasion. She stressed on maintaining equality, justice, sovereignty, integrity, and fraternity in the country.

Sreijan Sinha, Head Boy, delivered a patriotic speech urging the students to be honest and truthful to the responsibilities which they have to  shoulder to make a Self- Reliant India (“Atmabirbhar Bharat”). He highlighted the contribution of freedom fighters, our national heroes and the constitution makers.

The programme was anchored by Aditi Shubham of Class VIII and Harshit of Class XI and the vote of thanks was given by Pragya, Head Girl.
