Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : Primary wing of Delhi Public School( DPS) Bokaro on December 19, 2017, celebrated its 30th annual sports day in which more than 1,500 students participated. The morning at DPS Bokaro (Primary Wing) unfolded a sporting session amidst flapping flags,and thumping feet upholding the true sportsmanship spirit, as the Primary Wing celebrated its 30thAnnual Sports Day.

Chief Guest, Dr A KSingh, Director (I/c) Medical &Health Services, Bokaro General Hospital, graced the occasion with his  presence. He was greeted with a melodious rendition of welcome song followed by the school song. The welcome address was delivered by P Shailja Jayakumar, Headmistress, of  DPS Bokaro. The School flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest who was  escorted by the Director and Principal, Hemlata S Mohan. Later, dozens of  balloons were released with the message “Save Water” to solemnize the opening of the event.

The students had geared up to witness the synchronized and rhythmic drill presentation of coordination, skill and team work on the theme ‘Save rivers, save water’ presented by around 400 students involving all the six houses – Sutlej, Chenab, Jamuna,, Jhelum, Raavi, and Ganga houses  in complete unison depicting the lucidity and fluidity of sacred rivers of India. A magnificent field display of group dance- ‘Colours of Life’- Colours of Love, Life and Peace enthralled the audience. 

The Chief Guest while emphasizing on the profound impact of sports in human life said, “Sports teach us to take up the various challenges in life.” He said that it is important to learn how to keep pace with life. Praising the outstanding show put up by the students, he said it was splendid to witness these young kids’ creativity blended with such perfection. He further mentioned that at DPS Bokaro, these young students are getting excellent guidance and support to excel both in academics as well as Sports.

The Director and Principal of DPS Bokaro, Hemlata S Mohan, said that, “Sports is helpful in the overall development of mind and body.” She further emphasized that the spirit of true Sportsmanship moves our lives forward and participating in sporting activities cultivates a responsive thought process in the brain which builds Team Work, Timeliness, Discipline and Sportsmanship in an individual.
