Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : With a view to mixing learning with fun and for instilling confidence in schoolchildren by providing giving them an opportunity to get on the stage and speak in front of an audience, a three-day fancy dress competition began at DPS Bokaro (Primary Wing) at Bharat Muni Kala Bhawan here on November 26, 2018.

The theme of the competition was based on famous personalities, characters from storybooks and national animals of different countries in which 140 students participated. The students of class I came dressed in various costumes and expressed their feelings in an innocent and melodious voice. The style of acting, presentation, and dialogue was praiseworthy. There were parents as well who shared the stage along with the students.

Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest N Murlidharan, Pro-Vice Chairman of DPS, Chas, complimented the tiny-tots for their unique performance adding that this is a great platform for them to exhibit their inherent potential but there is a strong need on the part of the educators and parents to keep the spark alive and groom the kids to contribute in building of a progressive society.

Dr Hemlata S Mohan, Director and Principal, DPS Bokaro, lauded the performance of the students and stressed on the importance of such events adding that participation in such events helps in developing the creativity in them. Dr Mohan further added that apart from studies such events are important for the overall development of the students. She urged the parents to understand the emotions of their swards, be kind and caring and help them in their development.

P Shailaja Jaya Kumar, Vice Principal, DPS Bokaro, said the ‘Fancy Dress Competition.Primary’ was a mode of teaching that involves research and innovation to present the information, knowledge in a creative way.

The winners of the competition were awarded the prizes and a Certificate of Participation by the Director & Principal, Dr Hemlata S Mohan while the efforts of the participating parents were acknowledged with gifts.

The judges present on the occasion Dr Padmalya Dash Choudhary, Rashna Baruah, and Mrityunjoy Bhattacharya praised the kids for their efforts in wonderful colourful costumes. The show was anchored by Ritanmay, Nityam Agarwal, Avinija Singh, and Ananya Priya of class V.
