Motihari ;  With the  death of five  injured  persons at Patna medical college and hospital (PMCH) on Sunday night, the death toll in Chhapawa fire incident has increased to seven. Fire had broken out on June 1 night at Chhapawa market  on Motihari-Raxaul NH28A road  under Sugauli police station in East Champaran district due to explosions in six LPG cylinders at an illegal gas refilling shop.

According to police sources, 29 persons including 11 children had received burn injuries in the fire of which 12
persons with more than 80%  burn injuries were referred to PMCH  from Motihari  Sadar hospital for better treatment  the same night  by the order of East Champaran DM Anupam Kumar. Two children  died on  June 3  at
PMCH  and five more died late Sunday night. According to Awadhesh Kumar Jha, SHO, Sugauli  police station, a  case has been lodged  against Lalbabu  Sah, who was running this  illegal gas refilling shop but he is yet to be arrested .
