Patna : Delhi Daredevils (DD) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 11 runs in the crucial 55th match of IPL 2018 at Feroz Shah Kotla ground, Delhi, on May 20, 2018, night, due to superb bowling by their spinners Amit Mishra ( 3/19) and Sandeep Lamichhane (3/36) and very poor batting display by top MI batsmen Rohit Sharma ( 13), Kieron Pollard (7), Suryakumar Yadav ( 12), Krunal Pandya (4), and Ishan Kishan (5). MI finished the league stage with only 12 points from 14 matches and failed to qualify for the play off stage. DD has 10 points from 14 matches. DD had defeated RCB in their previous match.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, DD made 174/4 in 20 overs riding on 64 with 4 fours and 4 sixes by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and an unbeaten 43 with 3 fours and 2 sixes by allrounder Vijay Shankar. In reply, MI were all out for 163 in 19.3 overs notwithstanding Ben Cutting’s tremendous effort towards the end. Cutting made 37 in 20 ball hitting 2 fours and three sixes. Opener Evin Lewis made 49 hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes while Hardik Pandya made 27 in 17 ball hitting 2 fours and a six.
