Dancer attacked for resisting rape bid in Bhojpur

Ara : A dancer Chunni Kumari was injured when one Naushad allegedly hit her with a potato cutter when she protested teasing on May 16, 2017, evening at Maraini Bazaar under Chapokhari police station. Sshe was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital for treatment.

SHO Charpokhari police station said that Chunni Kumari, daughter of Sheikh Hameed of Vardhman in Bengal, lived in a rented house at Goal Mohalla under Town police station, Ara. She earned by dancing at different functions and she had come to Ara for presenting programmes. She said at Ara Sadar Hospital that she was contacted for four programmes and was given Rs 40,000 for the purpose.

Chunni alleged she had completed her assignment and wanted to go back but the owner of the dance party Naushad forcibly prevented her and took her to Manaini Bazaar under Charpokhari police station on the pretext of a programme. She said that Naushad kept her in a room there and tried to outrage her modesty and when she protested, he attacked her with a potato cutter and injured her. He also did not let her go to police station. She somehow reached Ara Hospital on May 16 evening with the help of a youth.
