Jamaui : Armed naxalites numbering around 20 forcibly stopped Danapur – Durg Express on August 2 2017, at Bhalui Halt in Lakhisarai district and did not allow it to run for six hours after abducting the Gateman. The naxalites first kidnapped the Gateman and then asked him to stop the train at Bhalui Halt failing which they would blast the train. Sensing threat to the life of passengers, the Gateman stopped the train there.
The train services on the section resumed at 6 am on August 3 after police and para-miltary forces searched the entire areas and were convinced that the naxalites had not planted Landmines on the tracks and adjoining areas. The ultras did not harm any passenger. They also later released the Gateman.
Jamui SP Jayantkant while confirming the incident said that since force from Lakhisarai district were yet to reach Bhalui Halt, police and para-military forces from Jamui reached there. SP Jayantkant, who led the force, said that the ultras were led by their leader Pravesh Da. The train was released from naxal control around 5 am but not before an encounter between police and naxalites. The naxalites fled the scene as the police far outnumbered there. None of the naxalites was killed in the encounter, SP Jayantkant said adding that none of them was arrested either.
