Patna: Scheduled castes and tribes students, who were agitating near Gandhi Maidan on Wednesday noon, were dispersed by use of force by the police when the protest march organised by Bharatiya Chhatra Kalyan Sangh went unruly.
Students had taken out the protest march from SC students hostel near Mahendru in western Patna and were going to state assembly. They were demanding payment of outstanding scholarships, reservations in promotions in government jobs and opening of hostels for SC students in all districts. Police tried to persuade them  against proceeding to the assembly. When their efforts failed, police resorted to lathicharge to disperse them. Due to their agitation, normal traffic on Fraser Road and Exhibition Road was badly disturbed .
