Ara: Bhojpur police, on a tip off, conducted raid at Udwantnagar village under Udwantnagar police station on Wednesday morning and arrested nine ganja smugglers including two women. Police also seized two quintal of contraband ganja packed in 31 packets, six mobiles, one XUV and one Indica car.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that he got information that a consignment of ganja was to pass through  Udwantnagar on Wednesday. He immediately formed two police teams led by ASP (operations) Md Sajid and DSP (probation) Reshu Krishna. Police laid trap and intercepted two four- wheelers and seized a quintal of contraband ganga and also arrested seven persons including two women. On the their revelation, police conducted raid at the house of Suresh Lal in Satpahari area under Town police station and also at the house of Gopal Prasad in Nawada locality under Nawada police station and seized one quintal of ganaja from there too. Police also arrested two persons from Nawada.

The arrested persons were identified as Vinay Kumar Pathak, son of Srinath Pathak of Baraa Telpa under Town police station in Saran district, Rajesh Mahto, son of Gauri Mahto of Barhara under Barhara police station in Bhojpur district, Suresh Lal, son of Kunj Bihari Lal of Neknam Tola under Barhara police station in Bhojpur district, Manoj Sah, son of Sri Laksham Teli of Baraki Nainijor in Buxar district, Anuj Kumar, son of Ajay Kishore of Anaith locality under Nawada police station in Bhojpur district, Gopal Prasad, son of Lakshaman Mistri of Anaith locality, Manoj Kumar, son of Vinod Kumar of East Lohanipur in Patna district, Babita Sahni, wife of Ramchandra Sahni of Mahdevpur in Hubli district in West Bengal, and Ajabu Nisha, wife of Md Maznuddin of Pandua in Hubli district in West Bengal.

The SP said that the ganaja smugglers were bringing the consignment from Raipur in Chhattisgarh and were to go to Azamgarh in Utter Pradesh but police intercepted them on way to Azamgarh at Udwantnagar. He said that the arrested smugglers disclosed that a consignment was brought from Raipur a week ago and was kept at the houses of Suresh Lal and Gopal Prasad. He said Suresh Lal is the mastermind behind it and lives at Gauraganj Satpahari area under Town police station though his native village is Neknam Tola under Barhara police station in Bhojpur district. He said the arrested women have nothing to do with the smuggling and were put in the vehicles to browbeat police.
