Bettiah : Unidentified criminals shot at and critically injured Bharat Prasad, younger brother of flat rice dealer Ramji Prasad of Chanpatia under the same police station in West Champaran district, and looted Rs 3 lakh from him on June 4, 2017, late evening, near Majar bridge under Balathar police station, when and his Munshi were returning on a bike after collecting dues from petty dealers under Inarwa and Mainatard police station areas. Bharat died at hospital.

A gang of criminals waylaid them near Majar bridge after intercepted their bike and looted Rs 3 lakh ffrom Bharat after firing on him. He was admitted to Sadar hospital, Bettiah, but died during the treatment. The Munshi of the deceased reportedly ran away from the scene soon after the incident. West Champaran SP Bettiah Vinay kumar said that police would soon arrest the criminals involved in the incident.
