Ara: About a dozen miscreants outraged the modesty of woman from mahadalit community and also thrashed her at village Gundi under Krishnagarha police station in Bhojpur district on Friday morning. Gundi village has been adopted by BJP MP Raj Kumar Singh for making it a ‘Adarsh Gram’.
SHO, Krishnagarha police station, said that Sumitra Devi, 40, wife of Dev Lal Gond had gone to attend call of nature in a field at Gundi village on Friday morning, when some miscreants of the same village overpowered her and outraged her modesty. When she tried to raise an alarm, she was beaten up by the miscreants who also tore away her cloths. Hearing her cry, some villagers including her husband rushed to the spot to rescue her but they were alsobeaten up by the miscreants. A named FIR has been lodged with the Krishnagarha police station against 13 persons but no arrest has so far been made in this connection. The police later brought the victim to Ara Sadar Hospital for medical examination and will produce her before Ara Civil Court on Saturday.
