Chhapra : Unidentified criminals looted Rs 12 lakh cash from a vegetable oil wholesale dealer Vinod Kumar Gupta and shot at his driver Nagendra Rai causing serious injuries to him on NH-19 at village Vishunpura under Mufassil police station, Chhapra, in Saran district, August 5, 2018, morning. Gupta had a providential escape. The injured driver was first taken to Chhapra Sadar Hospital where the attending doctors referred him to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) as he sustained bullet injury on his neck.

Gupta, according to sources, was on way to Chhapra on his Scorpio after collecting dues from his clients amounting to Rs 12 lakh cash. But, a four-wheeler was following Gupta’s four-wheeler. As Gupta’s vehicle reached near village Vishunpura on NH-19, the four-wheeler following his Scorpio  intercepted it while another criminal on a bike whipped out his pistol and broke open the window pane from driver’s side. As the driver resisted the criminal, he opened fire on him causing bullet injury in his neck.The criminals then snatched the bag containing the cash and sped away from there. An FIR had been lodged with the police station concerned on Gupta’s statement.
