Bokaro (Jharkhand) :  Unidentified criminals on July 5, 2017, night looted gold jewellery, cash and other valuables worth more than Rs 45,000 from a couple travelling by Maurya Express train near Gomoh station under Dhanbad division of East Central Railway (ECR). The train was going from Ranchi to Gorakhpur.

According  to eyewitness, Upendra Singh  and Priyanka Singh of Ranchi along with other passengers were travelling in Coach number S—6 on seat number 1 and 2. As soon as the train took off from Chandrapura Junction (Bokaro), few unidentified persons first  tried to stop the train by pulling the chain before Gomoh junction after which the power of the bogie was turned off.

“And as soon as the train reached near outer signal of Gomoh Junction and slowed down, two youths boarded the train  and started snatching our bag in which a gold chain, gold ring and Rs 3,000 were kept threatening that if anyone dared come near them will be killed. Failing to  snatch  the bag as Priyanka Singh resisted the move, the criminals used sharp blades to cut the bag, took out the jewellery and cash and escaped unchallenged,” complained Upendra Singh.

Gomoh railway police  was informed about the incident which  rushed to cops to arrest the criminals  but failed to nab them. Later,  the couple left for their onward journey to North Bihar.
